You can add substantial square footage to your
home by remodeling or finishing your basement.
Whether you are creating another bedroom, bathroom, office, or play space for the kids, a basement can be a wonderful place to retreat during those hot, humid Ontario summer days.
Adding a living or sleeping area requires two code compliant forms of egress, but it doesn’t necessarily need to be a window. Code compliance is very important with basement remodels. We will talk to you about that before producing a quote.
Before starting work, we need to make sure there is no water seepage in the basement. We will also need to insulate the walls if that has not been done. When it’s time to do the ceiling, you can choose between drywall or acoustical tile.
Finishing your basement is a great return on investment. The costs are minimal – usually between $40 and $65 per square foot – and it’s not too difficult to do. There is usually no structural work. Most of the changes are cosmetic, and the walls are usually in place. We just add insulation, drywall, flooring and you’re good to go!
